Knicks' Derrick Rose: Dealt to the Knicks

Rose was traded Wednesday to the Knicks along with Justin Holiday and a 2017 second-round pick in exhchange for Robin Lopez, Jose Calderon and Jerian Grant, K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Analysis:

Rose's 2015-16 campaign was his healthiest of the last three years, but the former MVP looked like a shell of himself following a pair of knee surgeries. He played in 66 games last season, averaging 16.4 points and 4.7 assists in 31.8 minutes per game while shooting an ugly 42.7 percent shooting from the field and 29.3 percent from three-point range. He'll still represent a huge upgrade for the Knicks at point guard, but his fantasy value likely won't climb much due to his injury history and the presence of All-Star Carmelo Anthony and breakout youngster Kristaps Porzingis alongside him. The Knicks have also been linked to other big names proliferating the free market, so the team may not be done making a splash this offseason. With one year and $21.3 million remaining on his contract, Rose will need to prove to the Knicks that he can stay healthy and play effectively if he hopes to keep himself in the team's long-term plans.
