Hornets' Jeremy Lin: Declines player option

Lin declined his $2.2 million player option for the 2016-17 season, making him an unrestricted free agent, Chris Haynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Analysis:

While Lin has expressed interest to remain with the Hornets, he vastly outperformed his contract in his first year with the team and should be due for a sizable raise on the open market. The 27-year-old will likely seek a longer-term deal as the salary cap expands, and he figures to attract several suitors in search of a combo guard off the bench.
