Grizzlies' Marc Gasol: Still not cleared to run

Gasol recently indicated that he's still recovering from surgery to repair a fractured right foot and doesn't appear confident that he'll be available for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, Sportando reports. "The [Spanish Olympic team] training camp starts in less than a month and I still can't run," Gasol said.

Analysis:

While Gasol hasn't hit any roadblocks in his recovery, he was always facing long odds to suit up for Spain in the Olympics after undergoing the surgery in late February. Foot injuries are often career-altering or even career-ending setbacks for big men, so it's expected that Gasol will take the cautious route and sit out the Olympics in preparation for camp with the Grizzles in the fall.
