Waiters wants to re-sign with Thunder

Dion Waiters has finally found a home in the NBA, and he's not looking to leave anytime soon.

Waiters, who is slated to become a restricted free agent this summer, wants to re-sign with the Oklahoma City Thunder after emerging as a breakout contributor in this year's playoffs.

"Of course," Waiters said. "Why not? Since I got here I feel as though they have helped me become a better person off the court. It's not even about basketball. I've never been connected with a group of guys like this that I'm actually close to. Why not? The best fans in the world. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back."

Often clowned for his propensity to flub layups and his ceaseless pleas for passes, Waiters has found his niche as a key piece off the bench. He shot 37.5 percent from deep in the playoffs and showed off his defensive versatility as he spent time checking Kawhi Leonard, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson.

Kevin Durant took Waiters under his wing, allowing the beleaguered shooting guard the stability he'd lacked after butting heads with teammates in Cleveland.

Waiters joined the Thunder last year in a three-team deal that saw the Cleveland Cavaliers snag Iman Shumpert and J.R. Smith from the New York Knicks.
