Former Davidson star and reigning NBA MVP Stephen Curry will be inducted into the Southern Conference Hall of Fame in the class of 2016.

Davidson's all-time leading scorer will join former student-athletes Keith "Mister" Jennings of East Tennessee State, Karen Pelphrey of Marshall, Armanti Edwards of Appalachian State, and Brad Faxon of Furman in the class.

"This year's group of inductees is one of the most impressive since the Hall's inaugural class of 2009," said Commissioner John Iamarino. "It features not only the current MVP of the NBA, but two other former SoCon basketball Players of the Year, one of the winningest quarterbacks in NCAA history, and a former collegiate golfer of the year who went on to win multiple PGA events. It is a remarkable group."

Curry starred for the Wildcats for three seasons from 2006-09. He averaged 25.3 points per game over his collegiate career, and rose to stardom as a sophomore when he led underdog Davidson to the Elite Eight of the NCAA tournament. Curry was selected seventh overall in the 2009 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors.

Davidson moved to the Atlantic 10 Conference in July 2014, but Curry spent all of his college days in the Southern Conference.

Despite adding to his long list of accomplishments, the 28-year-old has still yet to have his jersey retired by the Wildcats. Davidson requires its former players to graduate from the school before receiving the honor.
