McGregor believes fight against Mayweather would generate 'half a billion'

Conor McGregor believes there are half a billion reasons to fight Floyd Mayweather.

The UFC interim featherweight champion claims a bout between him and Mayweather would generate that amount in dollars, indicating he'd be inclined to partake.

"Why would he take me on?" McGregor asked Donald McRae of the Guardian on Saturday. "But if you're talking about a fight that could generate half a billion - it's this one. ... Only a cross-style match between Mayweather and me could generate that kind of interest and revenue."

The SBG Ireland member wants to cash in on anything he can, including every opportunity to enter the Octagon - or ring, for that matter.

"I am capitalizing on every single opportunity. It's a strong word, one of my favorite words: capitalize," he said. "I'm ready to capitalize on everything."

The 27-year-old, who's never short of confidence, said he knows exactly how he would take out the undefeated boxer. "Me? I would knock him out. Cold."

It's extremely unlikely the bout will ever happen, but that doesn't stop fighters from imagining it - and the money it would rake in.

McGregor is set to face off against Jose Aldo on Dec. 12 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Meanwhile, Mayweather will enter the ring on Sept. 12 for a dance with Andre Berto at the same venue.
