After missing weight, Scoggins blames McCall for fight cancellation
It's not often that a fighter fails to make weight, then accuses their opponent of ruining a scheduled match.
But that's the tack that Justin Scoggins decided to take after removing himself from the weigh-in process late Thursday when his body could not safely cut any more excess poundage.
His opponent Ian McCall was given the standard right of refusal, or he could choose to accept 20 percent of Scoggins' purse and proceed with the bout. McCall declined to fight Scoggins, who stopped cutting weight 6.5 pounds over the flyweight limit.
Scoggins posted a series of tweets Saturday blaming McCall for not taking the fight at a catchweight.
I can't make 125 anymore, but fans want to see this. Meet me at a weight we are both comfortable with and let's run it @Unclecreepymma

He could've still fought me, he rejected taking 20% of my purse and giving the fans the fight https://t.co/QAfzxcKzbA

Name me a real fighter who has pulled out because his opponent was a couple pounds heavier pic.twitter.com/mUc9JMLcS3

McCall made weight Friday and was rewarded by the UFC with his show and win money, as well as his Reebok sponsorship pay.
