Seattle Sounders teammates try to keep rookie Jordan Morris' ego in check

Seattle Sounders forward Jordan Morris hasn't even kicked a ball in professional club action yet, but the former Stanford University standout is already heralded as one of the United States' top prospects.

Morris signed for his hometown team despite interest in Germany, and while his signing was celebrated by the team's faithful fans, Morris' teammates made sure to give him an ego check when he arrived. Case in point: defender Brad Evans tweeted this photo, calling out Morris for taking the front seat, a big no-no for rookies.

But Morris says that's not the case at all, detailing to Matt Pentz of the Seattle Times exactly what happened.

"He told me to sit in the front seat and then snapped that picture," Morris explained. "I think he set me up."

To his defense, Evans refuted those allegations.

"He's always going to say that, right? He’s got to protect himself," Evans said. "He’s got to protect that ego."

While Morris joins Seattle with plenty of hype, Evans says Morris needs to prepare for some rookie hazing, then revealed what he went through when he first arrived at the club.

"They shaved our heads," Evans said. "They dressed us up like girls. It was a night I'll never forget. It wasn't too insane. I remember the night, so that's a good thing.

"It's not like college, where it's more of a fraternity. Here it’s a little bit different. Some teams might have different traditions, but for us we keep it light. You don't want to make them feel like they aren't part of the group or that they are a rookie, in my eyes. You want them to feel from day one like part of the group."
