New York Red Bulls sign trio of college seniors to Homegrown Player deals

It seems the New York Red Bulls are investing in youth as the club announced another three players have been locked down on Homegrown Player contracts, just one day after penning deals with Alex Muyl, Derrick Etienne, and Brandon Allen.

On Wednesday, the Red Bulls signed midfielders Chris Thorsheim and Mael Corboz and left full-back Scott Thomsen, bringing the total number of Homegrown Players on the senior roster to 11, including standouts like Matt Miazga; it's five more than any other club in MLS and the highest number of young signings of this sort in MLS history.

"We are very excited to be able to add Mael, Scott, and Chris," Red Bulls sporting director Ali Curtis. "Today is a special moment for these young men as well as for the club. Each player's development is a testament to their hard work, commitment of their families, the coaching they have received during their careers, and the quality of our youth development system."

The three players are all college seniors and join the Red Bulls senior team but could be loaned out to the New York Red Bulls II - a development-focused team playing in the USL.
