VIDEO: New York, Columbus goalkeepers exchange awful blunders to concede goals

Reuters

Sometimes, goalkeepers make mistakes.

Take, for example, Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina, who dropped the ball into his own net in a Champions League match against Olympiacos. Or how about that time Roma goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny stood a good four feet away from where he was needed against BATE Borisov?

It happens to the best of 'em, which New York Red Bulls 'keeper Luis Robles can take solace in after letting this shot by Columbus Crew forward Justin Meram slip right past him Saturday.

It's all good, though - Lloyd Sam found an equalizing effort just a few minutes later, restoring the deadlock at 1-1, before Bradley Wright-Phillips added another to make it 2-1. The best part? That second goal was the result of an equally hilarious blunder by goalkeeper Steve Clark.

Oh, to be a 'keeper in the day and age of smartphones and social networks!
