Crew beat short-handed Toronto FC 2-0
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) Justin Meram and Kei Kamara scored and the Columbus Crew beat short-handed Toronto FC 2-0 on Saturday night.
At the end of a scoreless first half, Toronto's Justin Morrow was shown a red card after a hard tackle of Ethan Finley just outside the box.
Columbus (1-1-0) took advantage of playing a man up quickly in the second half. In the 57th minute, Finley's perfect cross from the right flank found Justin Meram in the middle of the box and Meram calmly headed it past a diving Joe Bendik for a 1-0 lead.
Kei Kamara made it 2-0 4 minutes later with a close range half-volley of a feed from the left by Waylon Francis.
Columbus had 21 total shots with seven on target. Steve Clark made two saves to register his first shutout of the season, the ninth of his MLS career.
Toronto is 1-1-0.
