Tottenham confirms DeAndre Yedlin will join club in January

The deal is done.

After plenty of speculation, Seattle Sounders right-back DeAndre Yedlin will make the move to the Premier League next month.

The 21-year-old American, who burst onto the global scene at this summer's World Cup in Brazil, had long been rumoured to be on his way to Spurs. The only obstacle has been the securing of a work permit. Clearly, that situation has been rectified.

Tottenham has used a multitude of players at right-back this season, with the early season injury to Kyle Walker - the team's preferred option at the position - forcing the likes of Eric Dier and Kyle Naughton to assume the starting role at various times.

With Walker now fit and having played a full 90 minutes in the club's last two Premier League matches, Yedlin will likely find himself on the bench barring another injury to the Englishman.

But at just 21, the opportunity to ease into life in the Premier League and learn from a player (Walker) who boasts a similar skill set could prove invaluable to the American's development.
