Watch: Dempsey scores in MLS return after 6-month layoff

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

It took little time for Seattle Sounders star Clint Dempsey to find the back of the net in his first MLS match since August 2016, as he finished off a smart bit of team play to cut his team's deficit to 2-1 against the Houston Dynamo.

Dempsey was ruled out late last season with a heart issue, and couldn't play in any of his side's 2016 playoff fixtures as a result. He also missed the 2016 MLS Cup final, where his Sounders team defeated Toronto FC on penalties to claim the trophy.

This effort will come as sweet relief to Sounders fans who feared Dempsey had played his last game, or scored his last goal, with little fanfare. Deuce is back.
