Toronto FC rests Giovinco against Columbus

Sebastian Giovinco is getting a day off.

Toronto FC announced that the pint-sized superstar, who hasn't found the net in seven matches, will not feature in Wednesday's contest against the Columbus Crew.

Giovinco, the reigning MLS MVP, leads the Reds with eight goals and seven assists on the campaign, though he has looked labored in recent weeks as an injury-ravaged side has relied almost exclusively on the little Italian to create scoring opportunities.

As noted by the club, he will rejoin his teammates for the July 16 clash with the San Jose Earthquakes.
