Didier Drogba declared himself fit for Montreal Impact's fixture against New York City FC to put an end to unfounded speculation that he was planning on participating in a charity match instead.

After rumours implied he would return to Turkey, where he spent two years with Galatasaray, to play in a charity match a day before the Impact's date with NYCFC, Drogba cleared the air in a post on social media:

"Stop the false controversies and focus on the game," he said in a video on his Twitter account.

"People don't know where I am. I'm in Qatar, I'm with my physio, or someone else.

"I'm home, relaxing, watching the Montreal Impact game. Come on guys! Go Impact go!"

The former Chelsea forward has missed the team's last two matches because of a thigh injury, but said he's managed to overcome the knock ahead of the Impact's match against the Eastern Conference's top team.

"(I'm) in full recovery." he added. "Next week (vs. NYCFC), I'm back. Ciao fans, I love you guys!"

In his absence. Montreal has managed to beat the New England Revolution and played Real Salt Lake to a draw.

Drogba has found the back of the net five times this season, and also leads the team in assists with five helpers.

Montreal will take on the Portland Timbers on Wednesday before the crucial Eastern Conference clash with NYCFC, who leads the conference with 30 points through 20 games compared to the Impact's 25 points after 17 contests.
