New York City FC ties Toronto FC 1-1

TORONTO (AP) Kwadwo Poku scored to help New York City FC tie Toronto FC 1-1 on Wednesday night.

Poku opened the scoring in the 16th minute for NYCFC (4-3-5). The second-year New York team extended its club-record unbeaten streak to five games, but had its record-tying winning run end at three.

Johnson scored for Toronto (4-4-3) in the 42nd minute. He has 27 goals in 200 MLS games.

''We didn't concede so much,'' NYCFC coach Patrick Vieira. ''We didn't create much as well, so I think the draw is a fair point for both teams.''

Toronto coach Greg Vanney had a different view.

''I can understand why he's happy,'' Vanney said. ''They had 1 1/2 chances or maybe two chances the entire game where they were really threatening our goal. Disappointed that we didn't get three (points) but you've got to make plays at the end of the day to get three points.''

Toronto star Sebastian Giovinco was involved in Johnson's goal, but did not get an assist, ending his streak of being involved in consecutive TFC goals at an MLS-record 13 (scoring eight and assisting on the other five).
