Whitecaps' Kudo fractures jaw in horrific collision, will undergo surgery
Japanese forward Masato Kudo suffered a fractured jaw Wednesday in a nasty collision with Chicago Fire goalkeeper Matt Lampson, the Vancouver Whitecaps announced Thursday.
He is set to undergo surgery, but the club did not provide a timeline for his return.
The video below shows Kudo colliding with Lampson and immediately dropping unconscious, left bloodied by the challenge.

Kudo was replaced in the 11th minute by Blas Perez, who scored both goals in an eventual 2-1 win at BC Place.
"Sometimes, it's not about football," head coach Carl Robinson said after the match. "I let the guys know, it's a special day for Blas, but make sure you all send a message to Masato and his wife, because he's a massive part of this football club and he'll feel that we're right behind him."
