Watch: Giovinco equals club record for league goals with brace vs. Montreal
Only one superstar showed up in Saturday's battle between Sebastian Giovinco and Didier Drogba. Hint: it was the vertically challenged one.
Giovinco, Major League Soccer's reigning MVP, continues to build on his masterful first season in North America, scoring both goals in Toronto FC's 2-0 victory over Canadian-rival Montreal at the Stade Saputo on Saturday.
The pint-sized Italian is now tied for the league lead with six tallies on the season. More impressively, he also moved into a stalemate with Dwayne De Rosario atop the club's all-time MLS scoring list.
Both men have found the net 28 times in league play, though Giovinco has accomplished the feat in a mere 40 matches. He'll get the chance to stand alone at the top of the mountain when TFC makes the trip to Portland for a May 1 date with the defending-champion Timbers.
