LA Galaxy's Gerrard returns from calf injury, ready for next fixture

LA Galaxy star Steven Gerrard has recovered from his left calf injury and is ready to return to action, the club announced Wednesday.

Gerrard's been out of commission since he was sidelined early in his team's California Clasico match against the San Jose Earthquakes on March 19. Head coach Bruce Arena says the former Liverpool skipper could play as soon as this weekend.

"We expect Stevie to be available," Arena told the club's official website. "We'll get him through training over the next couple days. We haven't thought about our travel squad yet. We'll do that after training tomorrow."

The LA Galaxy head to Texas on Friday to take on the Houston Dynamo. Striker Robbie Keane remains sidelined while recovering from knee surgery.
