Cespedes blames 'shocking' error on being human

Kauffman Stadium has become somewhat of a house of horrors defensively for Yoenis Cespedes.

The New York Mets outfielder dropped a routine fly ball in the first inning Sunday that eventually led to the first run of the game - a play reminiscent of his first-inning blunder during Game 1 of the 2015 World Series.

"The ball just fell out of my glove," Cespedes told reporters following the 4-3 loss Sunday. "The ball just fell. I'm human."

Asked if the Opening Day error brought back memories of the World Series, Cespedes responded, "No."

While he played left field Sunday, Cespedes is expected to spend the majority of his time in center this season. Despite the blunder, manager Terry Collins isn't worried about the perceived lack of focus that caused it.

"That was as shocking as anything," Collins said. "Gold Glove out there, it surprised everybody."
