One of the greatest collections of vintage baseball cards was found stuffed in a torn paper bag earlier this year by a family going through their great grandparents' possessions.

Card expert and Professional Sports Authenticator president Joe Orlando verified the find of seven rare Ty Cobb cards printed between 1909 and 1911.

It's believed there were about 15 of these rare cards in existence prior to the find, with each selling for more than $150,000. Orlando believes each of the seven cards found are worth well into seven figures.

The family, which wished to remain anonymous initially, thought the bag was full of trash, but one family member decided to check the contents before throwing it out.

"It takes something truly special to make me feel like a kid again, but this was one of those moments," Orlando said. "This is what the hobby is all about. Even though we live in the information age, the Internet age, undiscovered treasure is still buried out there."

Cobb spent 24 seasons in the majors from 1905 to 1928 - 22 of them as a member of the Detroit Tigers. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1936 and is a member of the MLB All-Century Team.
