With Greg Bird out for the entire 2016 campaign after undergoing surgery for a torn labrum at the beginning of February, the New York Yankees added some depth at first base on Sunday.

New York signed former Minnesota Twins first-round draft choice Chris Parmelee.

The 27-year-old made the announcement on his Instagram page.

New York has not made the deal official, nor have any terms been released.

Parmelee spent last season in the Baltimore Orioles organization, appearing in 32 games, slashing .216/.255/.433 with four home runs and nine RBIs in 102 plate appearances.
