Lee has agreed to a one-year contract with the Mariners, ESPN 710's Shannon Drayer reports.

Analysis:

The 33-year-old slugger spent the past four seasons in Japan, where he hit .282/.368/.524. He hit a career-high 31 home runs for Fukuoka last year, and prior to playing in Japan he played 11 years in the KBO. Lee is a mammoth human, standing 6-foot-4, and weighing close to 300 pounds. Obviously at that weight he will be limited to first base and DH. Lee will presumably come to camp to compete for a spot on the short end of a platoon with Adam Lind, due to his right-handedness. He is scheduled to take a physical on Thursday, and the team is expected to announce the signing after that is complete. Considering he does not appear to have clear path to regular at-bats, he should be nothing more than a speculative pick in the later rounds of deep leagues.
