The Los Angeles Angels reached a one-year, $1.1-million deal with right-hander Al Alburquerque on Friday giving the club another option in the bullpen.

Alburquerque joins an Angels bullpen featuring Fernando Salas, Joe Smith, and Huston Street at the back end.

The 29-year-old Dominican spent the last five seasons with the Tigers, pitching exclusively out of their bullpen. He amassed a 4.21 ERA across 67 appearances last season while striking out 8.4 hitters per nine innings.

Alburquerque has always recorded high strikeout totals, collecting 276 in 225 innings of career work.

He owns a 3.20 ERA and 1.33 WHIP across 241 big-league appearances.
