Alex Gordon isn't ready to rule out a return to Kansas City.

The free-agent outfielder is still weighing his options ahead of the 2016 season, and recently denied a report by CBS Sports that the Royals had "no chance" of retaining his services as things currently stand.

"The Royals are still in the mix," Gordon told the Lincoln Journal Star at a baseball camp in Omaha, Neb. "I know what's going on behind the scenes, and I'm dealing with it the best I can. Right now I'm talking with a lot of teams. I just want to make the best decision for me and my family."

Kansas City has reportedly tabled a four-year offer for around $13 million per season to the Nebraska native, but he's believed to be seeking closer to $20 million per annum on a long-term deal.

"Right now I'm unemployed and I pay an agent four percent to make the calls, take the calls, and let me know what's going on," Gordon said. "I hope to sign sooner than later, but this will all work out for the best."

Gordon, a three-time All-Star and four-time Gold Glover, rejected the Royals' one-year, $15.8-million qualifying offer to become a free agent, and is also reportedly garnering interest from the Chicago White Sox, Baltimore Orioles, St. Louis Cardinals, Los Angeles Angels, and San Francisco Giants.

The 31-year-old has spent his entire nine-year career with the Royals, who selected him with the second overall pick in the 2005 draft.
