The Minnesota Twins are one step closer to signing one of the top sluggers from the Korean Baseball Organization.

First baseman Byung-ho Park will travel to the United States this weekend, and meet with team executives next week, according to multiple reports.

"He's coming to the U.S. (this week)," one source told Phil Miller of the Star Tribune. "There's a reason for that. … (The Twins) think it will be done soon."

The Twins secured exclusive negotiating rights with Park after submitting a successful bid of roughly $13 million on Nov. 9, giving them a 30-day window to sign him to a major-league contract. Park will remain in Korea if the two sides can't hammer out a deal during that span.

The 29-year-old is expected to command a contract somewhere between $20 million, and $30 million.

Park smashed a KBO-leading 53 home runs and 146 RBIs for the Nexen Heroes, and impressed scouts with a mammoth home run last weekend against Team USA in the championship game of the Premier 12 event at the Tokyo Dome.
