Chicago White Sox general manager Rick Hahn made his first move of the offseason by addressing a need for relief pitching.
The White Sox announced they traded minor-league pitcher Yency Almonte to the Colorado Rockies in exchange for right-handed reliever Tommy Kahnle.
Hahnle crafted a 4.41 ERA in two years with the Rockies, striking out 102 of 440 batters over 102 innings.
Drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in 2012, Almonte finished the 2015 season with a 3.41 ERA, going 11-7 in 22 combined starts between the Kannapolis Intimidators and Winston-Salem Dash of Class-A and Class-A Advanced, respectively.
