It's been a big day for Bryce Harper, who secured the first MVP award of his young career.

The 23-year-old hopes he can vie for another with the Washington Nationals, and wants to spend the rest of his career with the club.

"I'm definitely excited to be a part of the Nationals organization. I think that being able to play in that stadium and play for this city and this town, being around the fans and just being around the city. It's such a great place to play," Harper said on a conference call after winning the award, according to CSN MidAtlantic.

"I'm definitely excited about the upcoming years and I'm definitely excited to further my career with the Nationals. I have a couple more years in D.C. and then hopefully at the end of that we can do what we can and I can be a National for life, hopefully."

Harper's eligible to become a free agent for the first time at the end of the 2018 season, when he's 26 and could fetch a huge contract if he continues to play like he has.

The young slugger is set to make $5 million next season and is eligible for arbitration for the first time in 2017.

Harper finished his MVP season hitting .330/.460/.649 with 42 home runs, 99 RBIs, and a 1.109 OPS, with 118 runs scored.
