St. Louis Cardinals legend and Hall of Famer Lou Brock is recovering in hospital after having a section of his left leg just below the knee amputated because of a diabetic infection.
The 76-year-old was hospitalized a couple of weeks ago, and his family says he's recovering well and will be fitted for a prosthetic, reports Rick Hummel of the St. Louis Post Dispatch.
The eight-time stolen-base champ swiped 118 bases in 1974, and 938 over his 19-year career, which still stands as a National League record.
Brock currently sits second all-time in career stolen bases.
