Over the past 15 years, Ichiro Suzuki has established himself as the greatest Japanese position player ever to ply his trade in the major leagues, earning an MVP award, 10 All-Star appearances, and countless other accolades throughout his decorated career.

On Sunday afternoon, though, the inimitable 41-year-old fulfilled one of his last remaining goals when he took the mound at Citizens Bank Park. It was his first pitching appearance in the majors, in the 2,357th game of his career.

Suzuki, who pitched in the Japanese All-Star Game in 1996, allowed one run on two hits in one inning of work, showing off a decent slider in addition to a fastball that hovered around 86-87 mph. To his credit, Suzuki's repertoire was consistent with the scouting report he provided for himself in 2014, during his final season with the New York Yankees.

"Fastball and slider," he told David Waldstein of the New York Times. "But like all Japanese pitchers, the splitter is my bread and butter."
