Ryan Braun: Shut Down For Season

Braun (back) was shut down by the Brewers on Sunday due to a lack of progress in his rehab, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Analysis:

Braun did get a start Saturday, but it was a rough outing where he went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. It's a safe move long-term for the Brewers, as they aren't going to allow a marquee player risk his 2016 season for a lost year. This will wrap up a strong season for the right fielder, in which he went .285/.356/.498 with 25 home runs and 24 steals. He's slated to undergo surgery on his back in the coming weeks.
