Miami Marlins second baseman Dee Gordon made it a priority to check on a fan after a foul ball made contact with her head Tuesday.

As soon as the inning ended, Gordon made his way over to 93-year-old Janet Balian to make sure she was OK.

"I was like, that could have been my grandma that got hit. So I had to make sure she was all right," Gordon told Craig Davis of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. "They said, luckily it just grazed her more than anything. I was just glad she was all right."

Balian, who was at the game with her grandson, received an autographed bat and baseball from Gordon for her troubles.

"He's awful sweet," she said.

Gordon has joined a number of players that are in favor of introducing more protective netting in order to prevent fans from getting hit by objects that leave the playing field.

"We need a net," Gordon said. "I know it's cool to catch balls. But guys are hitting these balls hard. I do it all the time. I never put my family nowhere down there. I know it's really scary."
