CC Sabathia's season will continue.

The New York Yankees left-hander found out at the end of August that he didn't require surgery on his knee, and he'll likely make a start Wednesday.

After throwing 60 pitches in a simulated game on Friday, manager Joe Girardi was happy with what he saw, and plans to start his towering southpaw when the Yankees host the Baltimore Orioles on Sept. 9.

"I thought he looked pretty good. I think he got up around 60 pitches, four innings. Our next step is really to see how he feels in the next couple days, how the knee reacts to what we did today," Girardi told reporters. "If it's good, we'll probably put him in the rotation."

Sabathia has been on the shelf with arthritis in his right knee, but will be activated off the disabled list in time to make the start.

The 35-year-old is in the midst of one of the worst seasons of his career on and off the field. He's dealt with controversy surrounding a nightclub incident and an extortion attempt, while pitching to an ERA of 5.27 in 24 starts.
