The New York Mets' offense is for real, and so is its power.

Catcher Travis d'Arnaud hit a two-run home run off Philadelphia Phillies starter Aaron Harang on Thursday in the fourth inning to give the Mets their 41st home run in the month of August on their way to a 9-5 win in 13 innings.

The dinger helped the Mets set a franchise record for most home runs in one month, surpassing the previous record from June of 2006.

New York would later add home runs from Yoenis Cespedes and Kelly Johnson to continue to push their monthly total.

In the 13th inning, the Mets got some help from the Phillies defense, tacking on four runs against reliever Hector Neris for a series sweep, claiming their 71st victory.

Phillies outfielder Jeff Francoeur wasn't happy about the sweep.

'It stinks because of all the Mets fans coming in here," he told reporters. "It stinks to get swept. It hurts a little bit."

The Mets have scored 73 runs in their last seven games, which is also a franchise record for a seven-game span.

Since acquiring Juan Uribe, Johnson, and Cespedes in trades, the Mets have become one of the top offensive teams in all of baseball, leading the league in home runs and RBIs, and sitting in the top five in batting average.

New York currently sits atop the National League East pennant race with a 71-56 record - 6 1/2 games ahead of the Washington Nationals.
