Molitor on Twins' poor play: 'We can't worry about who's winning, who's losing right now'

The Minnesota Twins and their Cinderella run appears to be ticking toward midnight.

Losers of eight of their last 10, the Twins fell out of a playoff position with their 3-1 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday.

Despite their recent free fall, manager Paul Molitor is trying to remain optimistic.

"I think the strong survive," Molitor told reporters. "We can't worry about who's winning, who's losing right now. We know we're not."

One of the key contributors to the Twins recent slide has been an anemic offense - one that's scored just three runs over their last three games.

"There's not too many guys that hit homers when they try," Molitor said of guys pressing. "It doesn't work that way very often."

Twins lineup over last seven games:

Player PA HR AVG/OBP/SLG SO
Brian Dozier 28 2 .179/.258/.429 11
Aaron Hicks 28 1 .250/.276/.357 10
Joe Mauer 25 0 .120/.185/.120 8
Miguel Sano 23 1 .217/.379/.435 8
Trevor Plouffe 14 0 .143/.250/.357 3
Torii Hunter 19 1 .105/.143/.263 4
Eddie Rosario 24 1 .208/.269/.583 7
Kurt Suzuki 22 0 .227/.227/.273 2
Eduardo Escobar 19 0 .158/.158.263 6

Minnesota has two more games to wrap up the four-game series with Toronto before heading to Cleveland for three.

"We're looking forward to being in that playoff spot the last day of the regular season," third baseman Trevor Plouffe said. "That's all that really matters to us."
