Murphy, DeJesus to make Angels debuts Wednesday; Navarro DFA'd

Angels fans won't wait long to see their two newest acquisitions.

David Murphy and David DeJesus are both in the Los Angeles Angels' lineup Wednesday for the team's second game of a three-game set against the Houston Astros. Both were acquired one day earlier.

Murphy was traded Tuesday by the Cleveland Indians in exchange for Double-A shortstop Eric Stamets, while DeJesus was acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays for pitching prospect Eduar Lopez.

With Mike Trout not in the lineup with a wrist injury, DeJesus will take his spot at center field – where he hasn't played since 2013 – and bat leadoff. Murphy will slide into the All-Star MVP's slot in the order batting cleanup.

With Trout healthy, DeJesus will continue to bat leadoff against righties while Murphy is likely to move down to fifth in the order, Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com reports. The Angels face rookie right-hander Lance McCullers on Wednesday.

With the two new additions coming in and the trade deadline looming, the Angels designated Efren Navarro for assignment.
