On Tuesday morning, the Toronto Blue Jays stunned the baseball world when they acquired five-time All-Star Troy Tulowitzki from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for veteran shortstop Jose Reyes and a trio of prospects.

Roughly nine years earlier, interestingly enough, Tulowitzki similarly stunned the man he'd eventually be traded for with a hot smash to shortstop, knocking Reyes over en route to the first hit of his MLB career back on Aug. 31, 2006.

Reyes, who months prior earned his first career All-Star appearance, played another five seasons with the New York Mets (and one with the Miami Marlins) before arriving in Toronto prior to the 2013 season.

Tulowitzki, meanwhile, would spend the better part of the next decade in Colorado, earning more wins above replacement for the Rockies than all but two players in franchsie history before being traded Tuesday.
