The Toronto Blue Jays have activated righty Aaron Sanchez off the disabled list, optioning Steve Delabar to Triple-A Buffalo in a counter-move.

The Blue Jays said last week that upon his activation, Sanchez, who has been on the shelf since June 14 with a lat strain, would be used out of the bullpen.

The 23-year-old went 5-4 with a 3.55 ERA through 11 starts this season after spending his entire 2014 rookie season coming out of the bullpen. In 24 appearances in relief, Sanchez owns a 1.09 ERA and 0.69 WHIP while striking out 27.

Gibbons said at the time that rookie Roberto Osuna is expected to remain in the closer role, though he didn't rule out using Sanchez to close out games here and there.
