Red Sox SS Bogaerts out after getting hit on forearm

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) Boston shortstop Xander Bogaerts left the Red Sox's game at Texas after being hit with a pitch on his left forearm.

Bogaerts initially stayed in the game Thursday night after being hit by a pitch in the second inning. But he was removed for a pinch-hitter in the fourth.

The pitch by Rangers starter Nick Martinez hit Bogaerts near his wrist, then ricocheted into the top of the screen behind home plate.

Bogaerts stayed in after be tended to by a trainer, and even caught a popup in the third inning.

Carlos Peguero, traded from Texas to Boston on Wednesday, pinch-hit for Bogaerts in the fourth. Peguero stayed in the game, going to left field in the bottom of the inning, when Brock Holt moved from left to shortstop.
