The Cincinnati Reds have stopped the bleeding.

Skip Schumaker delivered a walk-off RBI double in the bottom of the ninth inning that scored Marlon Byrd to halt a nine-game losing streak.

"We needed a win. That goes without saying - in the worst way," Schumaker said following the 2-1 win. "I don't care how it happened, we just needed to smile for once around here and break the cycle. It was a nice way to end it."

The nine-game slide was the longest for the Reds since they dropped 11 consecutive contests in 1998.

Rookie right-hander Michael Lorenzen put in a solid seven-inning effort, holding the Colorado Rockies to one run on two hits while striking out three.
