Blue Jays' Bautista likely to miss a few days after cortisone shot in shoulder
Jose Bautista's ailing right shoulder continues to give the Toronto Blue Jays outfielder trouble.
Having been relegated to designated hitting duties since April 21, Bautista is expected to be sidelined for the next few days after receiving a cortisone shot Sunday.
The injury, suffered while attempting to make a throw to first base from right field, has yet to land the five-time All-Star on the disabled list, though he's been making slow progress trying to throw.
Bautista is hitting .253/.387/.470 with three home runs, seven doubles and 20 strikeouts in 26 games since the injury.
The Blue Jays travel to play the Washington Nationals on Monday for a three-game series and will likely be without Bautista for anything other than pinch-hitting duties as National League rules prohibit the use of a DH.
