(SportsNetwork.com) - Chris Heston tries to pitch the San Francisco Giants to a series win on Sunday when they wrap up a four-game series with the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park.
San Francisco's bats have exploded the last two nights for 21 runs. On Saturday, Brandon Crawford went 3-for-5 with a grand slam and drove in a career-high six runs in the Giants' 11-2 win.
Brandon Belt went deep as part of a 3-for-5 performance which included two RBI and as many runs scored for the Giants, who have won four of their last six.
Gregor Blanco went deep among his two hits and scored twice, with Casey McGehee posting an RBI in the rout. Hunter Pence made his season debut, going 2-for-3 with a double and scored three times.
Ryan Vogelsong (2-2) failed to last long despite his club's offensive output, working just 5 2/3 innings and allowing two runs on six hits while walking four.
Jay Bruce homered among his two hits and Skip Schumaker knocked in the other run for the Reds, who have lost five of eight overall.
"Any time you hit a home run, it's good," Bruce said.
Mike Leake (2-2) was torched over five full frames for 11 hits and nine runs.
Heston, meanwhile, went the distance to beat the Houston Astros on Tuesday, as he struck out 10 and allowed just one run and two hits - one being a solo homer - to improve to 3-3, while lowering his ERA to 2.91.
"I just pound the bottom of the strike zone," said Heston, who retired the final 22 batters he faced. "Everything below the knees, really. Anything above the knees is probably up."
Cincinnati will oppose him with Anthony DeSclafini, who is 2-3 with a 2.79 ERA. DeSclafini's winless streak, though, reached four starts on Tuesday with a no-decision against Atlanta that saw him surrender three runs and seven hits in six innings.
The Reds were 5-2 against the Giants last season and have won 12 of the last 17 regular season games in this series at Great American Ball Park. Also, despite losses in the last two games, Cincinnati is 21-10 in the past 31 meetings with San Francisco.
