Blue Jays send struggling Castro to Triple-A; recall Delabar, Jenkins

The Toronto Blue Jays continue to send their crop of struggling rookies down for more seasoning. 

Hard-throwing right-handed reliever Miguel Castro became the third first-year player to be sent to Triple-A Buffalo this week after the 20-year-old struggled in his first taste of the majors. 

After not allowing an earned run through his first six appearances, Castro posted a 7.71 ERA over his last 4 2/3 innings while also relinquishing the temporary closer's role to Brett Cecil. 

Following a strong spring training, Castro cracked the Blue Jays' Opening Day roster despite having never pitched higher than Single-A. 

After opening the season with six rookies, Toronto sent down left-hander Daniel Norris and outfielder Dalton Pompey earlier this week. 

In addition to Castro, the Blue Jays also sent down right-handed reliever Scott Copeland while recalling relievers Steve Delabar and Chad Jenkins.

Delabar allowed one run across nine innings of relief in Triple-A, striking out seven. 

Jenkins went 1-1 while posting a 2.89 ERA and 12 strikeouts in four starts.
