Analysis:

The Dodgers wasted little time making the roster move after it was revealed hours earlier that McCarthy is suffering from a torn UCL and will likely require season-ending Tommy John surgery. Adam Liberatore was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move to give the Dodgers an extra arm in the bullpen, which could mean that current long man Carlos Frias moves to the rotation in place of McCarthy, at least until Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder) is ready to go.
