Jose Reyes: (Ribs) Out For At Least This Weekend

Reyes (ribs) will not play this weekend, and the Jays plan to re-evaluate him early next week, John Lott of the National Post reports.

Analysis:

The Jays hope to make a decision on a DL stint by Tuesday, after finding out Friday that Reyes is dealing with a cracked rib. It doesn't sound too promising for the star shortstop, and with Toronto not playing on Monday, owners in weekly leagues may be left with a touch decision. If he does play through the injury, Reyes will be at risk for further aggravations, and he may decide to take a more conservative approach on the basepaths. Should he land on the disabled list, the playing time at shortstop will likely be divided between Steve Tolleson and Ryan Goins. Reyes mentioned that his ribs hurt most when he bats left-handed.
