Brewers' Braun suffers ribcage strain in blowout loss to Rockies
The Milwaukee Brewers' Opening Day couldn't have gone any worse.
Milwaukee not only got pounded 10-0 at home by the Colorado Rockies, it also lost All-Star right fielder Ryan Braun.
The 2011 MVP was lifted after the fifth inning and was later diagnosed with a ribcage strain. He'll be re-evaluated Tuesday. Braun suffered the injury after crashing into the right-field wall.
"I was reaching to catch a fly ball that Justin Morneau hit in the fourth inning and felt it a little bit," Braun said. "With these things, you always know more the next day."
As far as Braun was concerned, he didn't plan on undergoing an MRI unless things got worse overnight.
Braun, limited to 135 games in 2014 due to an oblique strain and a thumb injury that required offseason surgery, went 0-for-2 with a strikeout.
Right-hander Kyle Lohse allowed eight runs over 3 1/3 innings, surrendering a pair of home runs in the loss.
