Joe Maddon: Kris Bryant to continue getting reps in outfield

Joe Maddon believes in versatility.

The Chicago Cubs manager expressed his desire for top prospect Kris Bryant to continue learning how to play the outfield because he believes it will take the pressure off the 23-year-old at the plate.

"I honestly believe it makes a younger hitter a better hitter," Maddon told MLB.com's Carrie Muskat. "If he's moving around a lot, and has to work with so many different defensive positions, he doesn't worry so much about his hitting."

The slugger, whose natural position is third base, made his second start in left field Sunday.

Bryant entered play hitting .459 with nine home runs and 15 RBIs in 37 at-bats.
