Actor and comedian Will Ferrell plans to play all nine positions in Cactus League games on Thursday in honor of former major leaguer Bert Campaneris, who did so during a regular-season game in 1965. Ferrell will also be raising money for cancer research. Follow along here for the most recent photos, videos and other happenings from Ferrell's day on the diamond.

11:43 p.m. - Ferrell completes whirlwind tour, plays right field for Padres

Ferrell's day ended, fittingly, in a San Diego Padres uniform just before midnight on the East Coast. The Anchorman and Elf star played catch with Buddy the Elf prior to completing his five-game, nine-position, 10-team tour for cancer research.

Asked after the game how his body's holding up, Ferrell said, "I know exactly what Tiger Woods feels like when his glutes aren't firing. I've already signed up for rotator cuff surgery."

The real play of the day: Ferrell said after the final game that his tour raised over $1 million for cancer research.

11:15 p.m. - Ferrell makes major-league pitching debut for Dodgers

Ferrell's wild day peaked during his final game of the night when Dodgers manager Don Mattingly called the 47-year-old right-hander in from the bullpen to pitch the seventh. Ferrell induced a first-pitch bunt and completed the 1-3 putout before Mattingly pulled him to a chorus of boos.

Ferrell made his case in an emotional plea on the mound: "I'm a groundball pitcher," he told Mattingly. "Let me get one more."

His final line: 0.1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 1 pitch.

10:35 p.m. - Ferrell traded mid-inning; catches for Giants

Ferrell's stay behind the plate lasted mere minutes as Giants manager Bruce Bochy yanked the Anchorman star moments after he settled into his crouch. Onto his final stop, the Dodgers and Padres game, where Ferrell could apparently serve as an umpire. Stay tuned, we're almost there.

10:12 p.m. - Ferrell arrives for White Sox game, finally

So much for pace of play rules. The White Sox briefly delayed their game with the Giants so Ferrell could enter as a DH in the ninth. Upon his dramatic arrival by helicopter, Ferrell struck out and was promptly traded to the Giants. He did, however, make contact for the first time.

He'll catch for San Francisco.

7:49 p.m. - Ferrell plays 3rd for the Reds, wears chip beard

Ferrell's Cincinnati highlight was doing what he does best: making people laugh. The actor kept the team loose in the dugout before getting cut midway through the game. Next up: Giants-White Sox.

Ferrell once again displayed his trademark crop-hop throw while patrolling left field for Arizona in his third game of the afternoon. Shortly thereafter, Ferrell was dealt to the Reds.

6:30 p.m. - Ferrell joins D-Backs for 3rd game; buys everyone food

Farrell's run in Arizona was short-lived but he made a lasting impression during his time in left field. The actor bought hot dogs for the entire section of fans in left at the end of the inning.

5:57 p.m. - Ferrell strikes out in 1st (and perhaps last) MLB at-bat

Angels right-hander Zach Stewart strikes out Ferrell on three pitches in his first major league at-bat.

Ferrell watched two called strikes down the middle of the plate before whiffing on the third pitch with two outs in the fourth. He was promptly traded to the Diamondbacks for a pair of concession-stand items.

Ferrell is now headed to Arizona for his third game of the day.

5:34 p.m. - Farrell traded again; to suit up at 1st for Cubs

Ferrell showed off his versatility after getting dealt to the Cubs, performing double duty as a third base coach during the top half of the fourth. The actor relayed signs to his players - literally - including one that read, "Don't Pull A Muscle."

5:18 p.m. - Angels' Ferrell makes error-free defensive play in CF

Move over Mike Trout, there's a new center fielder in town. Ferrell shined in his Angels debut, cleanly corralling a single off the bat of Welington Castillo and making a not-bad throw into the infield.

4:01 p.m. - Ferrell gets police escort to Cubs-Angels game

The comedian gets the VIP treatment en route to his second game of the day. Next up: Ferrell is scheduled to play center field for the Angels.

3:46 p.m. ET - Mariners ship Ferrell to Angels

Another clean inning defensively was rewarded by another trade. After taking the field for the Mariners at second base, Ferrell was greeted in the dugout by his teammates with the news that he's been traded to the Angels.

3:23 p.m. ET - A's trade Ferrell to Mariners

Oakland and Seattle have swung an inter-divisional trade. After surviving the first inning at shortstop without any balls being hit towards him, Ferrell will now move to the visitors' dugout and play second base for the Mariners.

Ferrell told his former Athletics' teammates he won't forget where he came from.

2:26 p.m. ET - Ferrell penciled into Oakland's lineup

The Athletics complete overhaul of their roster this offseason, apparently included adding 47-year-old Will Ferrell, who will hit fifth and play shortstop.

Ferrell warned A's shortstop Marcus Semien prior to the game that he could conceivably take his job.

1:33 p.m. ET - Ferrell hits the cage for batting practice

Prior to taking some swings, Ferrell talked about his approach at the plate with Athletics manager Bob Melvin.

"I'm a right-center (type guy)," Ferrell said. "Go with the pitch, outside corner of the plate. I don't want to try and do a lot with the ball, cause there's not a lot I can do. I just want to put it in play."

12:30 p.m. ET - Ferrell sits and chats with Bert Campaneris

On Sept. 8, 1965, Campaneris became the first player to play every position in a major league game.

12:11 p.m. ET - Ferrell hits the field to stretch before offering to grab his teammates burritos and energy drinks

10:30 a.m. ET - Ferrell opts to go bagless as he unloads the day's apparel

9:30 a.m. ET - Ferrell hopes to land a roster spot

"What if today I play out of my mind, and what if I make the regular roster?" Ferrell told ESPN. "That's kind of what the goal of today is - I'm hoping to land with a club.

"I have the physique a lot of people dream about having. It's my obligation to share it with the world."

9:00 a.m. ET - Ferrell's schedule for Thursday
