Jose Peraza: Impressing So Far In Camp

Peraza has been very impressive in Braves camp thus far, and manager Fredi Gonzalez left the door open for the Braves' top prospect to make the team out of spring training, MLB.com's Mark Bowman reports. "Half [of the coaches] say he's ready to go and the other half say, 'Nah, give him a couple months, he hasn't gotten any higher than Double-A," Gonzalez said. "It's always a good discussion. It will play out. We'll see."

Analysis:

He is getting starts at shortstop and second base this spring in order to maximize opportunities, but if the 20-year-old middle infielder were to make the team out of camp, he would slot in as the team's second baseman. Gonzalez said he would need to convince some of the people in the front office to let Peraza break camp with the team, so it sounds like the smart money is still on the speedster starting the year at Triple-A, but this high praise from the coaching staff certainly makes it seem like Peraza will be up with the Braves sooner than later. He is a top-10 fantasy prospect for the 2015 season, and should be taken toward the end of most drafts.
