Bogaerts admitted to losing confidence during an uneven 2014 season, WEEI.com reports. "Yeah, a little bit — going really bad for two months, I mean extremely bad," Bogaerts said of losing confidence. "Trying to have confidence every day coming to the park was pretty tough."

Analysis:

Bogaerts had a 60-game stretch between June and August in which he hit .143/.188/.207, but was able to finish up the season with an .824 OPS in the final 25 games. The Red Sox lineup got deeper over the offseason, so the pressure will be off Bogaerts, who will probably hit eighth in the order to start the season.
